Hello, Scottie families!
We are less than one week away from our big staff basketball game! Come out to Robinson Secondary School next Thursday, March 27, starting at 6 PM, to see the Bonnies take on the Scotties in what promises to be a fun evening. Other performances include the National Anthem by members of the BBES chorus, and the Bonnie Brae pep band will be getting us pumped up before and during the game. See the PTO section below for more details, or to volunteer to support at the event itself. We hope to see you there!
In the coming days (likely early next week), Hess Construction will be installing a new fence outside of Door 1. This fence will go opposite the current fence near Door 1, and will wrap around the columns before heading towards Door 8 (the SACC entrance). The new fencing will allow Hess to begin exterior work in preparation for the cafeteria expansion, which is scheduled to take place this summer. Finally, next Friday, March 28 is our March SCA Spirit Day - Multiples Day! Come dressed as twins, triplets, or other multiples. To be inclusive of all, as always, staff and students are also encouraged to wear Bonnie Brae colors of blue and white, creating rooms full of multiples!

Quarter End, Eid al-Fitr, and Student Holiday
Friday, March 28, is the last day of the third quarter. It is a full day of school for students.
All FCPS schools and offices are closed on Monday, March 31, for Eid al-Fitr. Tuesday, April 1, is a student holiday and teacher workday. See the complete school year calendar.
The Gradebook in SIS ParentVUE and StudentVUE will be closed for the end of the quarter from Friday, March 28, at 4 p.m. to Monday, April 7, at 6 a.m.

Kindergarten Orientation and Registration

This Is Us! - A Celebration of our Community of Families Event
You are invited to join us for our, "This Is Us! - A Celebration of Our Community of Families" at Bonnie Brae on Thursday, April 10 5:30-7 PM. We will learn about the cultures and traditions that make up our Bonnie Brae community as we experience performances, demonstrations, food, and a share fair. We are looking for families to share about their culture and traditions with our Bonnie Brae community.
Please view our This Is Us! webpage and our This is Us! Flyer (sent home in this week’s Tuesday Folder) to learn more about this event and to register to share about your family's culture, heritage, and traditions.
To sign up for an event(s), please complete the below Google Form or complete and return the paper handout to your child’s teacher at your earliest convenience, no later than our new extended deadline of Friday, March 21.
Once you have signed up for an event (potluck, share fair, performance/demonstration, parade of families), a staff member will be in touch with follow up information.

Bonnie Brae Yearbook-Order Deadline Extended!
Bonnie Brae yearbooks are officially on sale! All orders (online only) are now due by April 18, 2025. Soft cover yearbooks are $18, hard cover yearbooks are $24, and there is an option to add a foil name stamp for an additional $4. These prices are for all yearbooks purchased by April 18, 2025.
To order a Bonnie Brae ES Yearbook via credit card online, visit https://www.buytheyearbook.com/en/bty/findmyschool and use School ID Number 725788.
We will have a limited number of yearbooks for sale on-site in June at a cost of $20 per soft cover yearbook (no hard cover yearbooks will be sold on-site).
Yearbooks are expected to arrive late-May/early June.

Best Buddies Friendship Walk
Join us, the SUPER SCOTTIES, as we participate in the Best Buddies Friendship Walk on the National Mall in Washington, DC on April 26. The Best Buddies Friendship Walk raises funds and awareness for the inclusion of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our Scottie family is so excited to be participating in the walk this year and joining with others, in investing in a world where people with IDD are fully accepted and integrated into society. Your voice matters, and Superintendent Reid wants to hear from you! Share your thoughts and ask questions regarding FCPS on Monday, March 24 at Kings Park Elementary School from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. Click on a date to register. Registration is not required but is encouraged for planning purposes.

Next Steps in the Budget Process
The next steps in the FCPS FY 2026 Budget process include the School Board presenting the budget to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, April 22. The Board of Supervisors will then conduct public hearings Tuesday, April 22, through Thursday, April 24. Community members can submit testimony or sign up to speak.
Visit the county government website to view the Fairfax County FY 2026 Advertised Budget. The community is also invited to complete an online survey to provide feedback on the county’s FY 2026 Advertised Budget.

Help and Resources for Infants, Toddlers, and Their Families
Are you concerned about your infant, toddler, or preschool-aged child's development? Resources are available if your child exhibits difficulties in one or more of the following areas:
- communication,
- fine and/or gross motor skills,
- self-help skills,
- problem solving
- attention skills
Learn more about typical developmental milestones.
The Infant & Toddler Connection of Virginia (ITC) is the state’s early intervention system for infants and toddlers (0-36 months) with disabilities and their families. ITC provides evaluations and services for children who have developmental delays or medical conditions that may affect development. Parents are encouraged to contact ITC at 703-246-7121 to share their concerns.
Early Childhood Child Find is the process of identifying children with potential special education needs between the ages of 20 months and 5 years (children must be two by September 30).
FCPS Early Childhood Identification and Services (ECID&S) offers a free referral process to identify potential developmental delays or disabilities. Special education services are provided for all children who are found eligible through the referral process. Parents are encouraged to contact 571-423-4121 with questions or to make a referral.
✨ Helping students meet the criteria for kindergarten readiness is Goal 1 of the Strategic Plan.
VDH Immunization Packets for Rising 7th Graders
As required by the Code of VA, parents or legal guardians need to provide proof of immunizations for their child to attend at a Virginia public school.
In addition, all students entering 7th grade are required to receive one dose of each of the following immunizations:
- Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis booster (Tdap) given at age 7 or older;
- Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY) given at age 10 or older;
- A complete series of 2 doses of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.
- After reviewing educational materials approved by the Board of Health, the parent or guardian, at the parents or guardians sole discretion, may elect for the child not to receive the HPV vaccine.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to plan ahead by scheduling an appointment with your child’s healthcare provider now to avoid the rush this summer. If your child does not have a healthcare provider, please visit the FCPS Immunizations Resource page to find out where to get an immunization.

Staff Basketball Game - Volunteers Needed and Tickets Available
Who's going to win... the Scotties or the Bonnies??? You'll have to come to the BBES Staff Basketball Game to find out! Bring the whole family, grab some pizza or dogs (and candy of course!), and get ready to cheer on our amazing Scottie Staff! It will be a fun-filled night with Door Prizes, 50/50 Raffle (6th Grade Promotion Ceremony fundraiser), half-time activities, school pep band performances, and so much more!
